Privacy Policy

Thank you for taking the time to read our Privacy policy. Here at Bergkreuz, your privacy is our top priority.

We do not compromise with your privacy. Since all your data is stored locally on your device, we do not collect or have access to your personal information.

In this page, we will limit the technical jargon and write our privacy policy in layman’s terms, to be as transparent as possible about how we process your data.

The company that is responsible for your information is:
Bergkreuz GmbH, Bruggerstrasse 69, 5400 Baden, Switzerland.

You can contact our team for further information about data protection at support@thenthat.app

Your rights as a user of our services

You have the right to information, correction, blocking or deletion of your data at any time. Any given consent can be revoked at any time and you may partially object to the processing of your data, even if no consent was required from you for the processing.

Data we collect about you

  • Habit Data: Everything you input into your habit including but not limited to your habit name, completions, streaks, settings, notes are stored locally on your device using Core Data. If you have iCloud enabled, your data is synced across your devices via Apple’s CloudKit service.

  • Health Activities: we enable users to automatically track their health-related habits such as running distance or meditation minutes. To do this, ThenThat reads health-related activities from Apple Health. This data is only read and processed on your device and is never sent to us.

  • Location Data: ThenThat requests access to location data to enable location-based reminders. You can set up habits to trigger a reminder when entering or leaving a location. Locations are displayed using Apple’s MapKit and we will request background location access only to deliver these reminders. We do not store any location data.

How your data is stored

Your data originates in two ways:

  • Through your voluntary input in the ThenThat app (iOS, macOS, or watchOS)
  • Automatically from Apple Health, once you have given permission

Your data is stored locally on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced across your devices via Apple’s CloudKit. We do not store your data on our own servers. Apple’s CloudKit is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and terms of service.

Health Data (Apple Health)

Collection and Usage of Health Data

At Bergkreuz, we are committed to helping you build and maintain positive habits while respecting your privacy and security. Our app requests access to specific health-related data, including steps, activities and sleep information, to enhance your habit tracking experience and automate certain aspects of the process.

Purpose of Health Data Access

ThenThat utilizes health-related permissions for the following core functionalities:

  • Automatic Habit Tracking: We sync your health data to automatically mark the completion of relevant habits. For example, if you have a daily step goal, we can automatically mark it as complete when you reach your target.
  • Progress Automation: By accessing your health data, we help streamline your habit tracking process, reducing manual input and providing a more seamless experience.
  • Personalized Insights: We analyze your health data in conjunction with your habit information to offer tailored insights and recommendations to improve your habit-forming journey.

This health-related data is processed entirely on your device to ensure privacy and security. If you have iCloud enabled, data may be synced across your devices via Apple’s CloudKit, solely to provide you with a consistent experience across your devices.

By using ThenThat and granting health data permissions, you explicitly consent to the collection and usage of this data for the purposes described in this policy. You have full control over these permissions and can grant or revoke them at any time through your device settings or within the ThenThat app.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect the confidentiality and integrity of your health-related data. Your data is stored locally on your device and any iCloud sync is handled by Apple’s CloudKit, which uses encryption in transit and at rest.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your health-related data is never stored by us. It is read from Apple Health on your device and processed locally. You can revoke Apple Health access at any time through your device settings or within the ThenThat app, and you can delete all your ThenThat data at any time through the app’s settings.

Third-Party Services

ThenThat does not share your health-related data with any third-party services, advertisers, or external entities. We do not engage in the sale or exchange of user data. Your health information is used strictly for improving your experience within the ThenThat app.

What we use your data for

The main purpose of storing your data is to provide an optimal user experience on all platforms.

Your data is stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, it syncs seamlessly via Apple’s CloudKit between your phone, your tablet, your Apple Watch, or your Mac. ThenThat will also allow you to seamlessly sync your health activities statistics between different platforms (ThenThat with Apple Health).

We also use the data stored locally on your device to create a personalized experience — such as weekly or monthly reports on your habit-building progress and daily reminders.

If you opt in to Apple’s built-in crash reporting during system setup (on iOS, macOS, or watchOS), Apple may share diagnostic crash reports with us to help identify and fix bugs. We do not have access to any other usage data.

Security

Your data is stored locally on your device. Any synchronization via Apple’s CloudKit is secured using Apple’s encryption protocols. All communication with external services (e.g. Apple Health) uses secure, encrypted channels.

How we work with partners

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to outside parties — because we do not collect or hold any personal data in the first place. All your data resides on your own device.

Changes

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace this Privacy Policy at any time.

Since we do not collect contact information, we are unable to notify you directly of changes. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. The latest version will always be available in the app and on our website.
